Mit Don't Breathe gelang Fede Alvarez vor zwei Jahren überaus packender Suspense-Horror, der es vor allem mit Bravour beherrschte, die Grenzen von Lautstärke und Stillstand auszukosten. In einem Interview wurde der Uruguayer nun auf die möglichen Fortsetzungen zu Don't Breathe und Evil Dead angesprochen, von denen bisher noch keine bestätigt wurden.

"It doesn't mean that we won't make them. And that I make them might not be that I'm directing, but I might be producing. They're just ideas right now. Nothing to announce officially. We do have a script for Don't Breathe 2. That's the only difference. We don't have a script for Evil Dead 2. But we do have a script for Don't Breathe 2 that we wrote. Once I'm done with [The Girl in the Spider's Web] we're gonna start thinking of ways to bring that story to the screen. Me directing or me producing. It really depends on the time that we'll have. I'm particularly excited about that because it's a really different sequel, when it comes to sequels. It's a very different approach and I'm excited about that", so Alvarez.

Die Fragen, die sich also stellen, sind: Wird Don't Breathe 2 vor Evil Dead 2 kommen, denn ein Drehbuch zu Ersterem besteht offensichtlich. Allerdings weiß Evil Dead die größere Fangemeinschaft um sich, was am Box Office wohl durchaus mehr Sinn machen wird. Ob überhaupt eine der Fortsetzungen realisiert wird, ist ebenfalls noch unklar, genauso, welchen Posten Alvarez in den etwaigen Produktionen übernehmen wird. Fakt hingegen ist: Noch in diesem Monat startet mit dem Thriller Verschwörung Fede Alvarez' neuer Film in den deutschen Kinos.
