DC weiter im Aufwind? Nach dem Warner und DC mit Aquaman Ende des letzten Jahres einen großen Hit ablieferten, sind viele gespannt, wie sich nun Shazam! so schlagen wird. Der US-Presse wurde der Blockbuster bereits gezeigt und via Twitter trudelten nun die ersten Meinungen ein. Diese sind äußerst positiv. Zwar soll der Film ein paar Probleme haben, insgesamt bietet er aber wohl spaßige Unterhaltung, die für sich steht und nicht zwanghaft versucht ins DCEU zu passen. Shazam! handelt von einen rund 9000 Jahre alten Zauberer, der dem jungen Billy Batson die Fähigkeit gibt, sich in einen Superhelden zu verwandeln. Dies, indem Billy einfach den Namen Shazam ruft. Dieser steht für eine Vielzahl von mythologischen Helden und Göttern, deren Kräfte Billy in sich vereint: Die Weisheit Solomons, die Kraft von Hercules, die Ausdauer von Atlas, die Kraft von Zeus, den Mut von Achilles und die Geschwindigkeit Merkurs.

Shazam! is another win for DC. Sure, the humor & action you'd expect from a superhero film are there, but #ShazamMovie stands out because of the emotional, family story at its center. #Shazam is parts Home Alone, parts Big, a crowd pleasing family-friendly joy-filled wish-fulfillment superhero film which gets a bit over the top and cheesy at times. It’s fun and funny, and I was surprised at how much it wears it’s heart on its sleeve.
