Jose and Eddie take no stock in a hypnotist that is performing in the hotel lounge. She soon changes their minds when they are both put under and made to act foolishly. She brings them out of it, but later, she puts Mr. Phillips under to make him more tolerant of Jose's bumbling and leaves him unaccountably adoring him instead.

He is given the royal treatment, including a luxury suite, barber and manicurist service and expensive tailoring. He even throws a big party with all the help, until Phillips finds out who he really is. In the present, as a bellhop, he's supposed to be paying for all this out of his salary.
