"World War Z" hat nicht unbedingt einen leichten Weg hinter sich: Drehbuch-Änderungen, Nachdrehs sowie ein komplett anderes Ende. Das Ergebnis waren schließlich recht enttäuschende 536 Millionen US-Dollar weltweit Einspielergebnis. Ein Sequel schien so lange keine Chance zu haben. Laut Brad Pitt ist da jedoch noch nichts entschieden:

 "We're certainly talking about it, yes," So Pit "We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work."
