Samuel is looking forward to his baby with Saba, who is given an exuberantly warm welcome by his family. Her mother-in-law Mimi takes the pregnant woman on an outing. What seems like a spontaneous idea, however, follows a plan. Saba is less than enthusiastic when she realizes what is expected of her: not only her baby, but she too is to become Jewish. Symcha, meanwhile, tries to instill the values of the traditions in his grandson Samuel.

Things are not going well for the Zweiflers: grandson Leon gets everyone worked up at the vernissage of his hyped exhibition with a provocative family portrait. His mother Mimi now knows for sure that her husband Jackie is having an affair and Samuel's relationship with Saba is in crisis. Dana wants to stay with her children after returning from Israel. She stands behind Symcha, who is being blackmailed, and agrees to take over the business.

Samuel is worried about his grandmother Lilka. She keeps her health a secret. A visit to the doctor brings a sad certainty, which Samuel must keep to himself. As the birth of his child approaches, he threatens to break under the pressure. On the one hand, Samuel is prepared to do anything to get Saba to agree to the Jewish initiation rites for the baby. On the other hand, he struggles with the idea of leaving his family behind now of all times to go to Japan with Saba.

The Zweiflers, especially Mimi, are preparing the circumcision ceremony over Saba's head, and even Mimi's sister Tammi and her daughter Debbie are coming from New York to attend. In the hustle and bustle, however, they don't notice how Saba is giving up on things. When she disappears with the baby, Samuel is helpless. Meanwhile, Symcha is coming under increasing pressure. In his clever ruse to put the blackmailer out of action, he has inadvertently put the police on the trail of his secret.

It's five to twelve - or after that? Symcha has little time to evade arrest as a murder suspect. Samuel, meanwhile, believes that his love for Saba is lost. The circumcision of his son - and thus acceptance into the Jewish community - seems unattainable. However, when she leaves, Saba has an experience that makes her rethink things. After the investor deal fails, Dana is determined to lead the family business into the future.
