A young man called Fusaya Oide appears in front of the Mouri detective agency, wanting to hire Kogoro to solve the mystery of the death of his father, Raita Oide.

Kogoro and Conan discover the identity of the mysterious woman and the truth of this tragedy.

Conan, Ran, and Sonoko are in a townhouse cafe when later, the manager Satoshi Tomita is found unconscious on the floor.

Conan, Ran, Sonoko, Masumi, and Makoto are walking on the street after watching a movie when they find a man taking a woman hostage. Fortunately, Makoto knocks down the criminal to later see Shigematsu Tomioka telling that all of the scenes was a drama shooting. Since the actor was unconscious, Makoto is chosen as the understudy. They later meet an actor, an actress, a production assistant and a makeup artist. The actor, Saiya Tokuzono is so annoying because he made a joke by making the actress, Nanako Jinmei to sign an autograph using an electric pen. When Makoto and Tokuzono go to an abandoned building, the staff prepares to film some scenes. When the director asks for Tokuzono, the actor suddenly screams and falls, and Makoto is the main suspect because he was on the same floor when the murder took place.

When Conan, Ran and Kogoro go on a trip to the mountains, they make a stop at a village where they investigate the murder of a falconer.

When Conan, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi visit a retirement home, Smile Village, the group discovers that the owners of the facility are planning to scam some of the residents.

Following a demonstration of a new frying pan, it's manufacturing company's president is found stabbed to death in his office. When another man apparently commits suicide and seems to have been the killer, Conan becomes suspicious.
