Auf der Promo-Tour zu "Pacific Rim", sprach Regisseur Guillermo Del Toro auch über sein kommendes Projekt "Dark Universe". Dieses kombiniert DC-Charaktere wie Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon und Etrigan the Demon und ist praktisch eine düstere Version der Avengers oder Justice League of America. Del Toro bestätigte dabei, dass er definitiv weiterhin an dem Projekt arbeite und noch auf einen Drehbuchautoren wartet.

"The great thing about 'Dark Universe' is you have this possibility of creating a supernatural group and you can play by different rules," So Del Toro "But I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel film universe. So if there's any correlation, I will honor it."
