Sie dürften ohne Zweifel als eines der coolsten Cop-Duos der Kinogeschichte gelten: Martin Lawrence alias Detective Marcus Burnett sowie Will Smith alias Detective Mike Lowrey. Doch nach "Bad Boys II" (2003) wurde es still um die beiden. Und dies trotz vieler Gerüchte sowie Ideen für einen dritten Teil. Nun verriet Produzent Jerry Bruckheimer in einem Interview, warum es noch kein "Bad Boys 3" gibt. Die Antwort ist simpel: Schlechtes timing.

"It's so funny because we'll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies," he explained. "And then, Will will come back and be real excited about it, and Sony will say, 'Well, maybe it's not the time for this.' And then, 'Ride Along' came out and was a big hit, and now they're all excited to make the movie, but Will is off doing something else. It's just trying to get everybody together to make it. But, we're working on the script. We have a lot of faith and hope that we'll do it."

So wollte erst Sony, jedoch hatte Will Smith bereits zwei neue Projekte am laufen. Als er schließlich Zeit hatte, wollte Sony nicht mehr, weil einfach keine passende Zeit da war. Nun kam "Ride Along" in die Kinos und wurde ein großer finanzieller Erfolg. Somit hatte Sony wieder starkes Interesse am Film, jedoch hatte Will bereits andere Dinge zu tun. Es ist also schwierig alle zusammen zu bekommen. Jedoch wird weiterhin am Drehbuch gearbeitet.

Interessant ist dabei, dass scheinbar niemand auf Martin Lawrence warten muss. Nach seinem letzten Flop "Big Mama's Haus - Die doppelte Portion" wäre es zumindest für ihn endlich wieder ein großer Blockbuster. Doch auch Will Smith könnte mit einer Fortsetzung endlich wieder an seine alten Erfolge anknüpfen. Zumindest die Fans sind gespannt was passieren wird.
